{"id":25,"date":"2017-11-08T10:01:17","date_gmt":"2017-11-08T16:01:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/help.marketingservices.dev\/?p=25"},"modified":"2023-07-19T14:39:52","modified_gmt":"2023-07-19T20:39:52","slug":"how-to-connect-a-custom-domain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/help.marketingservices.dev\/?p=25","title":{"rendered":"How to connect a custom domain"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>To connect a custom domain, follow these steps<\/h2>\n<h3>Part 1: Your domain and its Records<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Purchase a domain from a Domain Registrar.<\/li>\n<li>Find the Domain Registrar&#8217;s page for managing the DNS Records of your new domain<\/li>\n<li>Edit or create a DNS Record for your new domain\n<ul>\n<li>We recommend setting a CNAME Record with a value of <strong><em>host.websiteprohosting.com<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>If you require an A Record then the value should be <strong><em>104.154.100.138<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Part 2: Configuring your Website Pro Site<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Log into Website Pro and navigate to the\u00a0<strong>Domains<\/strong>\u00a0tab<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Connect\u00a0a Domain<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Enter the domain name you purchased. Click <strong>Add Domain.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Website Pro will mark the new domain as <strong>Pending\u00a0<\/strong>while it verifies that the DNS records are correct. Once the DNS records have been verified (Website Pro checks for this automatically), your domain will show as <strong>Connected.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>You will receive an email and see a notification in the\u00a0<strong>Recent<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Activity\u00a0<\/strong>stream of\u00a0<strong>Business Center<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>You can also\u00a0<strong>Delete<\/strong>\u00a0added domains from this tab.<\/li>\n<li>Once\u00a0it has been <strong>connected<\/strong>\u00a0requests for your new domain will be redirected to the <strong>Primary Domain<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>You have the ability to set any of your\u00a0<strong>connected<\/strong> domains to be the <strong>Primary Domain<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>On the <strong>Domains<\/strong> tab<\/li>\n<li>Find the domain in the list, expand the options menu on the right side, then click <strong>Make Primary<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>All of your domains will then redirect to this domain.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><script src=\"https:\/\/fast.wistia.net\/assets\/external\/E-v1.js\" async=\"\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h2>How to connect without using Google Cloud Armor<\/h2>\n<p>Website Pro&#8217;s ingress point by default goes through Google Cloud Armor to provide additional security for our traffic. If you are planning on using your own firewall, you will risk a &#8220;Too Many Redirects&#8221; error if you pass traffic through both your own firewall and Google Cloud Armor. Press \u201cAdd\u201d.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>The added domain will be added to this page with the status \u201cchecking\u201d until DNS records are pointed to Website Pro\u2019s servers. You will see the DNS records that need to be changed under \u201crecord to update\u201d.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>To update your domain\u2019s DNS records, login to your domain registrar and navigate to the domain settings page.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Find the DNS \u201crecord to update\u201d with the listed \u201ccurrent value\u201d and set the value to the \u201crequired values\u201d.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>DNS records may take up to 48 hours to propagate. You will receive a notification when the DNS records are correct and the domain will update to the status of \u201cconnected\u201d.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>To set a domain as a primary domain, select \u201cmake primary\u201d in the drop down.
